Currency Information The legal tender is the Hong Kong dollar (HK$), which is linked to the US dollar at a rate of about 7.80HKD to 1USD, although exchange rates may fluctuate slightly. Foreign currencies and travellers' cheques can be exchanged at banks, hotels and authorised moneychangers. Before the transaction, you are advised to check the amount of any additional commission that may be payable. The exchange rate fluctuates daily depending on the money market. Banks are usually open 9am - 4:30pm, Mondays to Fridays and 9am - 12:30pm on Saturdays. All banks are closed on Sundays and public holidays. Automatic teller machines (ATMs) can be found throughout Hong Kong.
